Google Merchant Center: Invalid currency · Inconsistent currencies · Inconsistent currency between your product data and your website

Your prices are in the wrong currency for Google

What Google's message means

The currency in your product data is invalid, differs between attributes (for example price in USD but shipping in EUR), or doesn't match the currency shoppers see on your product page.

Why it matters

Google disapproves products with inconsistent currencies. Google also says you must show the price in the target country's official currency and let shoppers pay in it.

Common causes on Shopify

  • Shopify Markets or a currency app shows visitors a local currency while the feed sends another.
  • Shipping rates are in a different currency than product prices.
  • A feed for one country was reused for another.

How to fix it

  1. 1For each country you advertise in, check which currency your feed sends and which currency the product page shows by default to a visitor from that country.
  2. 2Use ISO 4217 codes (USD, EUR, GBP) and the same currency for price, sale price and shipping.
  3. 3Make sure checkout can finish in that currency for at least one payment method.
  4. 4Resubmit the data and let Google re-crawl.

In Shopify: With Shopify Markets, each market has its own currency (Settings → Markets). Make sure each market you send to Google is set up and its country gets the matching feed.

How to stop it coming back

  • Set up one Shopify market per country you advertise in and check its currency.
  • Test product pages from the target country (or with a VPN) after currency changes.

Common questions

Can my site show several currencies?
Yes. Google allows multiple currencies on the page as long as the feed's currency is the default, prominently shown one, and shoppers can pay in it at checkout.
