Google Merchant Center: Unverified phone number · Phone number not verified · Verify your phone number

Google needs you to verify your business phone number

What Google's message means

Your Merchant Center account doesn't have a verified phone number for your business.

Why it matters

A verified phone number is part of Google's standard business verification. Without it, account reviews can stall and contact-information issues can lead to disapprovals.

Common causes on Shopify

  • The phone number was added but never verified.
  • The number was changed and needs verifying again.
  • Codes by text don't arrive for some numbers or carriers.

How to fix it

  1. 1In Merchant Center go to Settings → Business info → Details and edit Business details.
  2. 2Enter a phone number you can answer right now and choose to get the code by text or voice call.
  3. 3Enter the code. If it doesn't arrive, request a new one or switch between text and voice.
  4. 4Show the same phone number on your store's contact page or footer.

In Shopify: Use the same number you have in Settings → Store details in Shopify, so the store and Merchant Center match.

How to stop it coming back

  • Use a stable business number you'll keep, and show the same number on the site.

Common questions
