Google Merchant Center: Mismatched value (page crawl) [availability] · Availability mismatch

Your website and Google disagree about stock

What Google's message means

Your product data says the item is in stock (or out of stock), but the product page says the opposite.

Why it matters

Shoppers clicking an ad for an item they can't buy is a policy problem, so Google disapproves the product until it matches.

Common causes on Shopify

  • Inventory changed in Shopify and the channel hasn't synced yet.
  • 'Continue selling when out of stock' is on, so the page lets shoppers buy but the feed says out of stock (or the reverse).
  • A pre-order or 'notify me' app replaces the Add to cart button.
  • The product page shows a different variant than the one the feed links to.

How to fix it

  1. 1Check the product page: does the Add to cart button work for that variant?
  2. 2In Shopify, confirm inventory tracking and the 'Continue selling when out of stock' setting match what you want to show.
  3. 3Check pre-order or 'notify me' apps that change the button text; Google reads the page as a shopper would.
  4. 4Don't mark products out of stock just to stop them showing. Google recommends the pause attribute (up to 14 days) or excluded destinations instead.
  5. 5After fixing, let the channel resync. Google re-crawls the page on its own schedule.

In Shopify: Inventory settings live on each variant under Products → Inventory.

How to stop it coming back

  • Keep stock tracking consistent per product and avoid manual stock edits during sales peaks.
  • Use the pause attribute instead of marking items out of stock to hide them.
  • Turn on automatic item updates as a safety net.

Common questions

Can availability mismatches get my account suspended?
Google says too many products with incorrect availability can lead to account suspension.
How do I hide products temporarily?
Google recommends the pause attribute for up to 14 days, or excluded destination for longer, instead of setting availability to out of stock.
