Google Merchant Center: Unavailable desktop landing page · Unavailable mobile landing page · Landing page error
Google can't open your product page
What Google's message means
When Google visited the product link it got an error (like 404 or 500), a password page, or a redirect to somewhere else.
Why it matters
Ads must lead to a working page, so the product is disapproved until the page loads.
Common causes on Shopify
- The store is still password-protected.
- The product was archived, deleted or unpublished from the Online Store channel.
- A geo-redirect or age-verification app sends Googlebot elsewhere.
- The URL handle changed and the old link has no redirect.
How to fix it
- 1Open the product link from Merchant Center in a private window, on desktop and mobile.
- 2If your store is password-protected, remove the password (Online Store → Preferences).
- 3Make sure the product is Active and published to the Online Store sales channel.
- 4Check that robots.txt or an app isn't blocking Googlebot or geo-redirecting visitors, and that the link has no more than 2 redirects.
- 5Test the URL with the URL Inspection tool in Search Console (desktop and smartphone) to see what Googlebot gets.
How to stop it coming back
- Create URL redirects in Shopify whenever you change a product handle.
- Remove products from the Google channel before archiving them.
Common questions
- How many redirects are allowed?
- Google says the landing page URL shouldn't redirect more than 2 times.
