Your Merchant Center account is suspended: what to do first
What Google's message means
A suspension means none of your products show on Google. It usually follows a warning period of 7 or 28 days, but for egregious policies Google suspends immediately.
Why it matters
Every day suspended is lost Shopping traffic, and each failed review can lengthen the cool-down before you can ask again. Fix first, then request one review.
Common causes on Shopify
- A warning period ended with issues unresolved (Misrepresentation, price or availability accuracy, policy issues).
- An egregious policy was detected (circumventing systems, counterfeit goods, unacceptable business practices, unauthorized pharmacies), which suspends without warning.
- Linked accounts or a shared payments profile with a suspended account.
How to fix it
- 1Find the exact policy: Needs attention → View setup and policy issues, and the suspension email. Misrepresentation, price or availability accuracy and contact details are common reasons.
- 2Fix everything that policy covers, on the website and in your product data, not just the examples Google sent.
- 3Make business name, address, phone, email, shipping and return policies consistent between your website, Merchant Center and your payments profile.
- 4Complete identity verification if asked, and make sure your product data source isn't empty.
- 5Request a review (I fixed the issue → Request review). Google says reviews typically take 3–7 business days. You get an email when the review is done; there's no guarantee of reinstatement.
In Shopify: You can also request a review from Shopify: Sales channels → Google & YouTube → Settings → Request review.
How to stop it coming back
- Act on warning emails during the warning period; Google allows a courtesy review then.
- Monitor account-level issues daily, not only when products disappear (FlagClear Pro does this).
Common questions
- How long does a review take?
- Google says review requests typically take 3–7 business days. You get an email when the review is complete.
- Can I request a review during the warning period?
- Yes. Google allows one courtesy review during a 7- or 28-day warning period. If any issue remains, the account stays warned and is reviewed again at the end.
- Can anyone guarantee reinstatement?
- No. Google makes the decision. Be wary of services that promise it.
